Viruses Be very harmful to the computer depending on the type of virus. For instance If it is a trojan horse you may need to set the computer to factory default. If it's just a little virus you will just need to run a virus scan and remove the virus. However if it is a bigger virus you may need to reformat your computer to get rid of this virus. There is many anti virus software out now to aid in not getting a virus some of these are: AVG, Nortin, and Mcaffe. Indications of having a virus is: slower computer, freezing, crashing or restarting, certan disks may not be able to be accesed, programs will not function properly or not at all, unusual error messages, printing may not work, distorted menus and dialog boxes. Some of these symptoms may also be caused by spyware. Operating systems such as Linux and Mac os are less likely to get viruses but that douse not mean that they cannot get viruses.
Types of Viruses
Trojan Horses look like their something actualy useful they seem to function normaly but then it runs background items with out you knowing. Trojan horses can also delete your work and make it easier to get other virsuses.
Computer Worms This virus makes copys of its self and distrubutes its self through email you can get a computer worm by clicking on an infected email. Worms can take personal information. A good way to keep worms out of your computer is by not clicking on emails that you are not familiar with.
Bootsector Virus This virus attaches its self on to the first part of the hardrive that is read by the computer on bootup. This virus is given through floppy discs.
Macro Virus This virus distributes its self thorugh launguage documents.
Memory Residence Virus This virus resides in your RAM and will stay in your computer after the program closes.
Rootkit Virus This virus is an undetectable virus that will attempt for someone to gain complete controll of your computer. These viruses are normaly installed by Trojan Horses that are disguised as operating systems.
Polymorphic Virus These virus change their structer and make it harder to track it with less sophisticated anti virus software. This virus makes copys of its self.
Logic Bomb Virus These viruses will only preform its purpose on a specific event for example: A employee gets fired and you lose your database. It can also function on a set timelimit. For example: at midnight you will lose your photos.
How to get Rid of a Virus
Usualy you can run your anti-virus software and it will find and get rid of the virus however if your anti-virus cannot find this virus you will have to set your computer back to factory default. Firewalls are usualy good for your computer by keeping out viruses. Firewalls function is to not allow anything in your computer without the admin's premision.

- Green DOT/FBI/Moneypak/Ukash These are called Randsomeware disguised as the contrys internet safety agency. What they will do is it will lock down your computer and claim that you must pay a fine with prepaied cards to access your computer.This virus may seem like its a malware virus but this is a type of trojan horse virus.
- Win7 anti-virus This virus pretends to be a anti virus software but allows more viruses in. This is a malware virus. From personal experence this virus is a bad one it would block all programs and not allow you to use anything.
